Bangladesh Cyclone Emergency

Cyclone Mocha has caused immense destruction in Bangladesh and Rohingya. It is the most powerful cyclone to hit the region in decades, with wind speeds of up to 175 km/h (110 mph) and torrential rain. The storm surge has resulted in flooding across low-lying areas, causing extensive damage to property and infrastructure while also displacing thousands of people from their homes. More than 6 people are confirmed to have been killed by the cyclone.

In Bangladesh, the cyclone made landfall on Wednesday night near Cox’s Bazar district, home to hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees who had already been living through a humanitarian crisis before this natural disaster struck. Homes have been destroyed by strong winds and heavy rains, leaving many families homeless or without adequate shelter as temperatures drop overnight. The risk of landslides is increasing due to saturated soil conditions which could add further losses for those affected by the cyclone’s destructive force.

In addition to physical harm caused by Cyclone Mocha, there are other risks that need urgent attention too; access to clean water is becoming increasingly difficult as floods pollute existing sources and drinking water becomes contaminated with saltwater intrusion from the sea level rise associated with this event.

Global Relief Trust (GRT) is currently on the ground in affected areas, closely monitoring the situation and providing support wherever it’s needed. GRT has deployed teams to assess damage and provide emergency aid to those impacted by Cyclone Mocha. The organization is also working with local authorities to coordinate relief efforts, including distributing food and other essential items such as blankets, hygiene kits, and safe drinking water.

GRT is providing hot nutritional meals from just £2, ready to eat meal packs for a family for just £30, £50 can provide an emergency pack, and £100 can provide a survival kit complete with food, shelter, and survival tools.
