Violent attacks on the minority Rohingya community in Myanmar left thousands dead, and hundreds of thousands fleeing to Bangladesh in search of safety. There are over 1 million Rohingyan refugees living in the extremely densely populated refugee camps in area of Cox’s Bazaar and Teknaf on the coast of Bangladesh. Every day, there are refugees still arriving in Bangladesh, facing a future living in crowded camps with issues of sanitation, clean access to water, food shortages, spread of illnesses; a future without hope.

Between 2010 and 2016, poverty fell significantly in the country, specifically in rural areas where it dropped down to to 26.4%, Alhamdulillah! Urban poverty had decreased by over 2% as well; but on the other hand, almost 1 in 4 Bangladeshis are still living in extreme poverty.

Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world. After decades of civil war, it has a past of violence and political as well as economic instability. GRT have started working in the country since 2018, providing Qurbani in the country, as well as hot food distribution.

An estimated 11 million Syrians have fled their homes since the outbreak of the civil war in March 2011. Now, in the eight year of war, 13.5 million are in need of humanitarian assistance within the country. Among those escaping the conflict, the majority have sought refuge in neighbouring countries or within Syria itself. Over 8 million have fled to Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, and 6.6 million are internally displaced within Syria. Meanwhile about one million have requested asylum to Europe.

Four out of five of the 24 million population are in need of emergency Aid. Three years of war in Yemen has left almost 18.8 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, as well as protection. A little over 10 million require emergency attention. The conflict is pushing the country towards a rapid decline. Millions are without proper food, clean water and basic healthcare. Source – WHO.

The crippling effects of the last attacks in Gaza can still be felt by the people, in which 1.523 people were killed, and up to 11,231 were injured (including 3,436 children and 3,540 women, 10 percent of whom now suffer permanent disability).
